The students all had to write assessed essays; many of them were pretty good, but I felt that stressing the principles in this presentation would help them in the future. It is (rather arrogantly) entitled ‘Principles of essay writing’. I borrowed a couple of the points on slides 3 and 8 from my old mentor, Prof Avner Offer.
